Attorney Background

Myra Bennett Torres Myra Bennett Torres has practiced law in Miami, Florida for more than 30 years. She brings to her legal clients and mediation practice a versatile background and the experience to evaluate and resolve each client's problems. Recognizing that different individuals have distinctly different needs, she listens to her clients and determines how to address each client's issue in a suitable manner. She has a distinctive ability to help minimize conflict in stressful situations. Her background, experience and ability to understand her client's individual needs give her an invaluable perspective to address each of her client's concerns.

Ms. Torres empowers her clients to achieve realistic goals. She is able to produce creative solutions to help her clients deal with their family issues.

After graduating magna laude from the University of Miami with a BA in English, Ms. Torres received her Juris Doctor from the University of Florida's Levin College of Law. She was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1976. Thereafter she was admitted to the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida in 1977, the United States District Trial Bar in 1983 and the United States Supreme Court in 1988.

Ms. Torres holds the Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Rated Status BV, indicating high to very high legal ability and the highest ethics.

Ms. Torres experienced the positive effects that resolving disputes through the use of mediation has upon individuals and their children. She then became a Certified Family Mediator by the Florida Supreme Court 1991. Since then, she has made mediation an important part of her work for her clients and for her practice. In January 1994, she extended her mediation practice by becoming a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Civil and County Court Mediator.

More recently she became additionally certified to mediate mortgage foreclosure cases. She participated in the South Florida county-managed mediation programs, as well as pre-suit and private mortgage foreclosure mediations.
